The idea was a old one of sorts but the results were positive . Charmin Chapman Horton the director of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Cruise – In for food at the Tasley, Va. location was the first time for this event . This event had a place for show cars & trucks to enjoy the Sun ( yes the Sun ) and the camaraderie of those who attended the event. Another line was set up for donators to drive up and hand their items to staffers without having to leave their cars. The results was as follows : 132 lbs. of food stuff , $ 890.00 in checks & cash , this equates to 2,780 meals.
It’s the hopes of club president Roy Ballard that this event will catch on and next year will triple it’s donations to this much needed organization that helps children and adults alike to fill the gaps between something and nothing on their tables. Thanks to AACA members who gave and another local club ( Eastern Shore Cruisers ) for their donations .
Charmin selected her choice of the autos present and Gary Woods and his fine custom 40’s Plymouth took home the trophy built by club president, Roy Ballard . See you next year….
